- Two months ago, I attended (actually worked) a 24 hour horror film
- festival in Columbus, Ohio. I missed the film, but my friends (horror
- fanatics) all claimed that they had seen the grossest film of all
- time at this festival. I was told that it made Romero's zombie films
- look like a G rated film. The film is called _Brain Dead_ and is due
- for release sometime in February (I've seen it listed in _The Film Journal_
- under TriMark pictures with no release date).
-
- The director of _Reanimator_, _From Beyond_, and _The Pit and the
- Pendulum_ (starrring Lance Henrikson) attended the festival as a guest speaker
- (and he brought a couple of his films with him). (For the life of me,
- I can't think of his name right now . . . it's *not* Brian Yuzna as he
- was the guest speaker the year before.) During his talk to the audience,
- he announced that he had seen _Brain Dead_ about a week before at some
- screening in California. He said that he was AMAZED (a horror director
- was amazed!) at the amount of blood and gore. He said that he had
- personally asked the Australian director of _Brain Dead_ how many
- gallons of fake blood he used . . . 3 *THOUSAND* gallons. According
- to the _Reanimator_ director (who I can't recall his name), he had
- thought the previous record was 30 gallons . . . or that could have
- been the most he had ever used . . . I can't remember.
-
- All of my friends watching the movie (gore buffs) told me that it
- made them (without exception) feel ill. I'VE GOT TO SEE THIS FILM!
- I don't know if this film will come out at the designated time . . .
- TriMark puts their films into the Dayton,OH area as a test market
- before they really release it . . . and I have as yet to see a full
- release of some of their films that I've run (i.e. _Leprechaun_).
- I hope it gets released on the big screen and not video.
-
- I've heard that at one point in the film, one of the main characters
- picks up a running lawnmower and uses it to cut through an army of zombies.
- And dig this . . . if you take away all the gore . . . the movie's
- a love story!
-
- If anyone knows anymore about this film or has any corrections, mail
- me! I wanna know! This film is done, but not in release yet. By the
- way, the director of _Reanimator_ has a new film coming out in February
- from Warner Bros. called _Fortress_ starring Christopher Lambert. This
- is a futuristic prison film. Supposed to be out in February. I've seen
- the trailer for it.
-
- P.S. This movie is not to be confused with the Concorde film of a few
- years back called _Brain Dead_. This one's new!
