  34. It wasn't sent to the MPAA because Reed couldn't afford to pay the fee.
  35. It was only shown in three theaters in America. At a midnight show in
  36. New York, it was picketed by Feminists, and removed. At a theater in
  37. St. Paul, Mn., it was picketed by Parents and removed. At a showing
  38. in San Francisco, it was picketed by Feminists and fundamentalists, and
  39. the print was stolen from the theatre and burned in a trashcan in front of
  40. the theatre.

  42. Why is it deemed so offensive by some? Probably because the only women in 
  43. the film are crazed savages who have reverted to primitivism, and they are
  44. always nude. Sure there is a ballerina character, but she too is just a 
  45. plaything of the men, and she is drugged and tortured until she too is 
  46. half crazed. The Men are definately in control with this film.

  49. Regardless, this is a film made for almost nothing, that is still being
  50. watched and discussed years later. Joel Reed hit the nail on the head, and
  51. by giving audiences something they couldn't get from Hollywood, he deserves
  52. his <admittedly minor> place in Cinema History. He has done several other
  53. films, but nothing this noteworthy.
