- The holdup on its release in the US was that Universal had the
- distribution rights but was intentionally *not* distributing the film
- because they wanted to use it as a pawn in a legal dispute thy were having
- with DEG. Overseas, those rights are held by other companies, and since
- the movies has been essentially completed for quite a while, there was
- nothing preventing those companies from releasing the film. I hope
- somebody writes a book about the hell they went through getting this
- thing released.
