- Thanks to all who responded. As you might have guessed, lesbian
- vampires are a popular subject -- even among males! Here is a summary
- of the comments I received. This is not the new FAQ :-) .

- Vampire (maid 1972, if I member it right)

- I'm hardly an expert on vampire flicks but THE HUNGER (by Tony "yellow
- light" Scott, who also directed Top Gun. Starring David Bowie,
- Catherine Deneuve, and Susan Sarandon) might be worth a look? I
- thought it was a cool flick except for the ending.

- THE VAMPIRE LOVERS AND THE HUNGER
- I'M NOT SURE ABOUT THESE OTHERS....VAMPIRE HOOKERS, VAMPYRES
- AND THE VELVET VAMPIRE.

- See the movie Liquid Sky. Not about vampires but it may lead you in the
- right direction.

- Despite my belief that you cannot intentionally write a cult film, heres
- a few titles and such:
-
- Anything by french lesbian vampire specialist Jean Renoir is a good place
- to start.
-
- The Vampire Lovers <1970, Hammer>
- Dracula's Daughter <1936, Universal>
- Lust for A Vampire <1971, Hammer. Sequel to Vampire Lovers, tones down the
- lebianism>
- Vampyres, Daughters Of Dracula <1975, Cambist> <More bi than lesbian>
-
- There are more, but tracking down all the films that followed "The Vampire
- Lovers" down this path, especially the european ones, is a tough task.
-
- the Jean Renoir ones can be very effective and/or very laughable, often
- in the same scene. Only title i can dredge up is the obvious "Les
- Vampyros Lesbian" or something along those lines. check some issues of
- European Trash Cinema for more info. They really like Renoir.
- Hope this helps. Good luck!

- Hammer's _The Vampire Lovers_, a bare-breasted adaptation of Le Fanu's
- _Carmilla_, featuring Ingrid Pitt. Excuse me now, while I go take a
- cold shower.

-
- The vampire lesbian trilogy that somebody asked about last week is
- _The Vampire Lovers_ (based, in theory anyway, on J. Sheridan Le Fanu's
- _Carmilla_), _Lust for a Vampire_, and _Twins of Evil_.
- I've only seen the middle film. It's an entry in the t&b genre (the "b"
- standing for "blood" :-) ). Good performances, but nothing to write home
- about.
- -The Stainless Steel Moviegoer
-
- How about Roger Vadim's Blood and Roses, supposedly a movie version
- of the great short story Carmilla? It's no great shakes, but it is
- on tape from Paramount for under 10 bucks, though it is apparently
- a chopped-up American version.

- Charles Busch (sp?) is a playwright who has written a number of very odd
- productions. One of them was called something like "Vampire Lesbians of
- Sodom." I'm told it's very funny and strange. The only play he's written
- which I'm familiar with is "Psycho Beach Party," which we did here at
- Rutgers a couple of years ago. This play is about a gidget-type teen with
- multiple personalities and a very oppressive mommie-dearest-type mother.
- If "Vampire Lesbians" is anything like it, It's bound to be weird.

- arent the vampirella comics about vampire lezbos....

- from that....??....good luck...

-
- And then there's a British film (a BFI production) called The
- Mark of Lilith made in the late '80s by a group of women which
- tackles the vampire myth by way of lesbianism, feminism and
- racism. Probably not easy to track down though...
