  24. I don't know about anyone else, but the last scene in this movie between
  25. Miou Miou and the klutzy businessman (where she has him read to her) is
  26. as moving as anything I have seen in years.  And unlike most of the
  27. sentimental crap pushed by American producers, it isn't the least bit
  28. hokey.

  30. La Lectrice is on my top ten list.

  32. A few "oldies"  (late sixties to seventies) that I can recommend:

  34. King of Hearts - one of two truly anti-war movies that I have seen.
  35.                  (The other is an American film called "Hell to Eternity"
  36.                  which stars David Janssen before he became the fugitive
  37.                  and before anti-war sentiments were chic.)

  39. Alexandre - About a French farmer who, after his pushy wife and in-laws
  40.             are killed in a traffic accident, decides to stop working and
  41.             spend the rest of life in his bed.  (The name in the title
  42.             is the name of his dog, also prominent.)  The farmer's
  43.             early retirement arouses opposition from the rest of the
  44.             town who attempt just about everything to get him out of
  45.             bed.  A few rough spots, but generally good farce.

  47. The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob - About an anti-Semitic French businessman
  48.             who is being chased (by mobsters, I think) and poses as an American
  49.             rabbi visiting France.  This delightful romp has something to
  50.             offend just about everybody.

  52. The Sicilian Clan - A great gangster flick.
