  13. If anybody is familiar with off-line mail-readers, maybe you can
  14. help me decipher something that has come up.  The only "pakcages"
  15. I am familiar with is the "QWK packet" that I think PCBoard
  16. started and set the standard for many years ago.  This package
  17. can be read by SLMR, OLX, and other off-line mail-readers.

  19. Recently I called a BBS and they offered off-line mail packaging
  20. too.  I forget what the program was called, but it looked very
  21. similar to Tomcat or Qmail or Markmail.  However, the package
  22. that got delivered to me had the suffix OPX instead of QWK.

  24. Neither SLMR nor OLX could handle this OPX file.  I was able to
  25. PKUNZIP it, and the filenames inside of it strongly resembled the
  26. filesnames in a QWK packet.  But that was the limit; there was no
  27. way I could make heads or tails out of it.

  29. Question #1:  What is the name of a mail-reader I need to use
  30. with this type of package?  Is it available from any of the
  31. popular ftp sites and where?

  33. Question #2: Is there any conversion utility that converts from
  34. one form to the other?

  36. I run a BBS in Chicago for a local labor union, and we have
  37. formed an echonet with some other union BBS's around the country. 
  38. There is a BBS in Canada that would like to join in with us, but
  39. their system delivers this funny OPX packet, and the rest of us
  40. are using the QWK packages.  For this reason, the conversion
  41. utility would be most useful.
