- If anybody is familiar with off-line mail-readers, maybe you can
- help me decipher something that has come up. The only "pakcages"
- I am familiar with is the "QWK packet" that I think PCBoard
- started and set the standard for many years ago. This package
- can be read by SLMR, OLX, and other off-line mail-readers.
-
- Recently I called a BBS and they offered off-line mail packaging
- too. I forget what the program was called, but it looked very
- similar to Tomcat or Qmail or Markmail. However, the package
- that got delivered to me had the suffix OPX instead of QWK.
-
- Neither SLMR nor OLX could handle this OPX file. I was able to
- PKUNZIP it, and the filenames inside of it strongly resembled the
- filesnames in a QWK packet. But that was the limit; there was no
- way I could make heads or tails out of it.
-
- Question #1: What is the name of a mail-reader I need to use
- with this type of package? Is it available from any of the
- popular ftp sites and where?
-
- Question #2: Is there any conversion utility that converts from
- one form to the other?
-
- I run a BBS in Chicago for a local labor union, and we have
- formed an echonet with some other union BBS's around the country.
- There is a BBS in Canada that would like to join in with us, but
- their system delivers this funny OPX packet, and the rest of us
- are using the QWK packages. For this reason, the conversion
- utility would be most useful.
-
- You can respond by email, and I'll try to summarize any responses
- I get. Or you can respond here directly if you like.
