  33. That's the nice part of the above proposal.

  35. Right now it's fruitless for commonfolk to write to Congress because the 
  36. mail is basically ignored.

  38. Even when they open a case, nothing is done.

  40. It would seem that there needs to be a public monitoring of what goes
  41. to a Congress person and what they do about it.

  43. Also, it would seem helpful to have email access to the Congress people
  44. themselves and to have them have to answer the email - as then there would
  45. be some basis for them to decide what laws to support or even to propose.
  46.  
  47. Right now its the people with money and clout who get laws introduced
  48. or supported, while commonfolk are left out of the whole process.

  50. And the process is not working.

  52. Also, if there were discussion via usenet of the bills that were needed
  53. or the bills that were being introduced, there would be a basis to 
  54. sort out the strengths, weakenesses, etc. of the bills, versus the
  55. current situation where the public has no knowledge of most or all
  56. of what goes on.

  58. If anyone has any suggestions about how to get email access to Congress,
  59. that would be helpful.
