  13. Labor union supporters from many unions held a successful rally on
  14. Tuesday, 22 January in support of LOCKED OUT projectionists,
  15. members of IATSE Local 110.  Several hundred supports showed up at
  16. the opening screening of the file "HOFFA" - a man closely
  17. identified with organized labor.

  19. The Chicago Theater chain of Cineplex-Odeon, owned and operated by
  20. a Canadian/Japanese company, locked out it's employees after they
  21. refused to accept an 85% pay cut.

  23. A very peaceful, but determined, crown marched around the crowded
  24. sidewalks in the from of McClurg Court Theater, and spilled over
  25. into the streets and across the street.  IBEW Local 134 had a large
  26. inflatable rat, and a high-power slide projector was used to
  27. provide warning of the unsafe conditions that might results in a
  28. crowded theater because of untrained and inexperienced operators
  29. for technical equipment.

  31. Picket signs were in abundance, as well as caps, whistle, and a
  32. song sheet of several popular tunes, with new words added.  The
  33. crowd joined in the singing, and the event turned into a
  34. 'happening.'  You really had to be there, or you missed something.

  36. There were rank-and-file members, as well as officers from most
  37. Chicago unions.  The rally was scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM, but
  38. actually started much earlier as many arrived early for this event.
