- Hi,
-
- I'm giving a talk at a conference next month, and I want to discuss the
- pros and cons of MultiNet vs UCX.
-
- The one thing that everyone will want to know is "how much". Here at a
- University, we are shielded from the full costs, so I would like to ask
- the Net at large just how much it would cost a commercial site to get a
- machine licence for MultiNet and UCX, for a mid-range VAX (say, a 6310 for
- example). That's assuming the latest releases of both products.
-
- Also, we've only got UCX 1.3, so do the later releases actually have some
- features that would make UCX more usable? We have MultiNet on our central
- system to provide the services, and install UCX on the other nodes to give
- them connectivity... (we get UCX under the old $1 licence deal).
