- Contrary to what common sense would indicate, it appears that making
- a brand new bottle from scratch is cheaper than washing out an old
- bottle. I guess that there is a lot of labor involved in collecting
- the old bottles and getting them back to the bottling plant. If they
- do another study like that today, I'll bet they conclude that the
- consumer will need to pay an extra fee for the privilege of getting
- a beverage in a reusable container.
