  12. I have similar feelings regarding Greenpeace, I was a $50/yr.
  13. member for about 5 years but i dropped out because i felt there
  14. were a number of problems with their approach.

  16. Ex: There is a large Chemical Incinerator being built in E.        
  17. Liverpool, Ohio about 50 miles from where i live. I was bombarded
  18. with requests for donations to stop the facility.

  20. Problem: ohio has 40+ years of chemical waste lying around in
  21. several superfund sights, leaking into the soil and groundwater.
  22. what do we do with all of this stuff

  24. True: the plant will dump an inexusable amount of emmissons into
  25. the air, but why not address the emmissions issue? (i.e. lets      
  26. build a cleaner plant)

  28. Before you rush out trying to stop every chemical incinerator
  29. from being built, let's figure out another solution to get rid
  30. of the waste first.

  32. this is just an example, but i think greenpeace should try to work
  33. with industry and government instead of relying on reactionary
  34. shock tactics to stir up the public frenzy, lets spend a little     
  35. more Greenpeace bucks on research, or send some greenpeacers out
  36. to do a little of the grunt work themselves.

  38. lets spend a little less on Junk mail (i haven't given to green-
  39. peace in 3 years, yet they are still probably my number2 junkmail
  40. problem.

  44. (not that greenpeaces don't work hard, but i'd rather pay to have
  45. them cleaning up things directly then pressuring other groups to
  46. get the work done, -just an idea, maybe they Do do a lot of that
  47. if so they should include more of that stuff in their donations
  48. ads.)
