- U> I was just wondering, does anyone know if any software is
- U> available via FTP or otherwise for Amiga VR applications, such as a
- U> PowerGlove controller and or software that makes use of it? How about
- U> the Sega glasses? Anything else I may have no idea about?
-
- Well, I suppose now is as good a time as any to mention that (thanks to the
- suggestion of Richard A. Romano) a friend and I are setting up a mailing
- list for people doing VR with Amigas.
-
- Since my original post asking for a roll-call of Amiga VR people present, I
- have gotten an incredible amount of response, and Richard's suggestion
- seemed the most reasonable way of allowing Amiga folks the chance to
- communicate without driving the rest of sci.v-w stark raving mad.
-
- If you are interested, please send me some private e-mail at any of the
- addresses below, and I'll add your name to the list. Anyone *else* who is
- interested in Amiga VR is welcome to drop me a line as well and be included
- in the mailer. Allow me to note that this is completely non-commercial in
- nature; it's main purpose is to further communication between Amiga
- implementors of VR to save everyone headaches...
-
- U> I'm only running an A500 with 1 meg or RAM, so obviously the
- U> applications would be somewhat limited if possible at all. I was
- U> thinking of getting a PC (normally against my religion) just for VR
- U> applications, but cash is somewhat of a problem at his point.
- U> However, if what I need is available for Amiga, I'd much rather just
- U> upgrade to what I'll need...
-
- The applications are certainly possible. Of course, it's a question of
- *which* applications you'd want to be implementing in VR. An increase in
- memory is going to be called for. But I wouldn't get a PC just for VR.
- The Amiga's sound and graphics capabilities are well documented, and
- although there is not as much support at present as exists for PC's, there
- *is* software out there (such as the Mandala program) for VR on the Amiga,
- as well as many people working on it even as we speak (get on the mailing
- list).
-
- The decision is yours. But you'll be able to make a more informed decision
- if you talk to some of the many other Amiga VR people on the mailing list
- once it gets going...
-
- Hope to hear from you soon, as well as anyone else who is interested in
- participating in the mailing list.
