- he might not choose to post on the internet. Seriously, I am seeing a lot
- of purely ad hominem arguments:

- - "Adherents of Theory XYZ include known scoundrels. Therefore Theory
- XYZ must be wrong."

- - "Adherents of Theory XYZ cannot even agree on some of the essentials.
- Therefore their theory must be entirely nonsense."

- I have heard the first argument applied by the luddites to the founders of
- evolutionary biology. The second argument could be applied to quantum
- mechanics, general relativity, or even all of science.
