  26.      I'm coming into this discussion a bit late, and don't have the
  27. prior postings available.  But in my own experience, physicist have
  28. a better understanding of literature than people in the humanities 
  29. understand science.  I recently was at a dinner with someone who had 
  30. written a book on Zeno's paradox.  I had to explain to everyone that
  31. an infinite series *can* have a finite answer - to people who were
  32. discussing what infinite meant to different cultures.

  34.      As for scientists who write literature - sure there are scads!

  36.      Loren Eisely:  One of the best writers in English IMO.  Read his
  37.            autobiography, "All the Strange Hours."

  39.      Jacob Bronowski"  "Ascent of Man", some philosophy and a play or
  40.            two I think.

  42.      Timothy Zahn:  Went to write science fiction, so maybe not "real"
  43.            literature.

  45.      Erwin Schroedinger:  Wrote about Life, etc.
