  18.             Postgraduate Research Scholarship $15,000 p.a.

  20. Applications are invited for a postgraduate research scholarship for study
  21. towards a higher degree (MEngSc or PhD) in the Department of Civil and
  22. Systems Engineering at James Cook University.  Applicants are expected to
  23. have a BE degree with honours or equivalent.  The scholarship is for one
  24. year in the first instance, but has a good prospect of renewal for up to three
  25. years.

  27. The successful applicant will work on a project supported by an ARC grant
  28. to study the buckling behaviour and strength of thin shells under local
  29. loads.  The project will involve the development and application of
  30. nonlinear finite element techniques and model experiments in the laboratory.
