- Greetings. The RS232 standard was superseded by the EIA-232D standard. It
- specifies a driver minimum output range of +/-5V and a maximum of +/-15V.
- Receiver input sensitivity is spec'd at +/-3V. There are single chip
- driver/receiver solutions that will provide an acceptable +/- swing from
- only a single +5V for 232D. There are also chips that use a single 3.3V
- supply to implement the lower voltage EIA/TIA-562 standard, which defines
- > +3V as a 0, and < -3 as a 1. This standard can be interoperated with 232D
- interfaces. See the Maxim chip series for a wide range of such devices.
