  13. The following is the second in a series of suggested readings, prayers,
  14. and responsive readings for use at Scout Sabbath and Scout Sunday
  15. services.  The Responsive reading below is based on the Scout Oath used
  16. in the United States (BSA) It could easily be modified for other countries.

  22. Leader:    Our Honor is a quality we possess because of our dignity as
  23.     human beings and children of GOD.  Our 'best' means to give all
  24.     we have.  It means to keep striving to do what we know is right,
  25.     and in the Oath it means we will try to be good Scouts by
  26.     fulfilling our Scout duties as expressed in the Scout Law.

  28. Cong:    ON MY HONOR, I WILL DO MY BEST...

  30. Leader:    Our duty to GOD and country means chiefly two things:
  31.     obedience and loyalty.  The duties we owe to the House of GOD,
  32.     and to our country, to parents, to one another, and to ourselves
  33.     come from some command of GOD.  The Scout Law sums up all the
  34.     qualities a Scout should have and without which he can not be a
  35.     good Scout.

  37. Cong:    TO DO MY DUTY TO GOD AND MY COUNTRY, AND TO OBEY THE SCOUT LAW...

  39. Leader:    Our Lord told us that love of our neighbor was like the first law
  40.     of love of GOD.  The first children of GOD were known by the love
  41.     they had for one another.  Real human charity or love prompts us
  42.     to want to help others at all times.  Our Scout training will
  43.     give us skills and knowledge that will put us in a better
  44.     position to do this.

  46. Cong:    TO HELP OTHER PEOPLE AT ALL TIMES...

  48. Leader:    Scouting offers us many opportunities to grow strong physically.
  49.     To be alert and ready requires us to give special care to those
  50.     gifts of soul - intellect and will - that make us unto GOD.
  51.     'Morally Straight' means we must try to know what is right and
  52.     true, and to love what is good and choose it.

  54. Cong:    TO KEEP MYSELF PHYSICALLY STRONG, MENTALLY AWAKE, AND
  55.     MORALLY STRAIGHT.
