  15. Being the Asst.Registrar for the Los Angeles Marathon, I may be
  16. able to clear up some of the questions that have recently been
  17. brought up regarding the entry form.

  19. Yes, while it does ask that all the areas be filled out,your
  20. social security # is optional (on the forms that have it printed).
  21. The reason for asking for it is, as someone said, IF you are a 
  22. money contender.  Otherwise it is of no use to us.

  24. The areas that MUST be completed, to avoid holding up your entry
  25. form and the mailing of your bib, are:
  26.  
  27. Last name
  28. First name
  29. one phone number
  30. address
  31. city
  32. state 
  33. zip
  34. Date of birth - mandatory
  35. age
  36. citizenship
  37. Sex - mandatory
  38. Expected finishing time.  Please note that if no finishing time is
  39.     entered, you will default to the LAST corral, regardless of
  40.     what your actual running time is.  So fill it out initialy
  41.     and be done with it.

  43. The Marathon is big on demographics which is why all the other questions.
  44. It helps convince sponsors that we have x number of doctors, lawyers,
  45. etc. in the race and hopefully will result in their contribution.

  47. At the expo, we forget all the demographic info and use only the
  48. categories as stated above.

  51. I am also the "start line coordinator" so if anyone has any suggestions,
  52. concerns, etc. I am open to suggestion.
