- With respect to all of these postings about "Fun with a Truck"...
-
- I am sorry, but I have no time to read every one of these postings, but
- has someone made this point?? ... Nobody has the right of way at any time,
- driving or not! This question always blows 'em away on the Maryland
- Driver's Licence Exam:
- QUESTION: Two cars approach an intersection at the same time (car A approaching
- from car B's right, with car B approaching from car A's left).
- Who has the right of way?
- ANSWER: NEITHER! Car B should "yield" the right of way, but neither car
- "has" the right of way! If an accident occurs, Car A's driver could
- be held just as liable!
-
- Anyway, one should always exercise caution, especially as a pedestrian, when
- facing several hundred pounds of steel traveling with a good bit more momentum
- and kinetic energy than the typical human body.
-
- One other note: when I run the roads, I watch driver's eyes (when I can) and
- use that as a gauge. If they don't see you, then you better move over. If
- they do see you and they have that Dracula look in their eyes, then you better
- really watch out. Otherwise, take it easy, be a good citizen, and don't do
- anything that will give runners a bad name ... especially if your city sponsors
- a lot of road races (as does mine: Baltimore) ... we do not want to get the
- mayor's office and city police against us (which seems to be the case in
- Baltimore, for other reasons however).
-
- Be careful out there.
-
- P.S. I really enjoy reading this newsgroup, especially when people write up
- personal narratives of their marathon (or other) experiences. Some of these
- are good enough to appear in Runners World, which I also enjoy reading.
-
- My $0.02 worth! Thanks for listening (... er, reading).
