- That's a pretty common thing. Water cooled VW engines do it as well.

- shells either - the crank just ran inside the aluminum cases.

- The VWs seem to be prone to galling the cam bores. Around here, they
- just weld 'em up and ream 'em out, costs about $125. Frankly, I'd ream
- the bores and find/make inserts, but nobody asked me.
