-
- As a GM Truck owner myself, my theory is this: Traditionally, trucks have
- not had to meet a lot of the safety standards and requirements that cars
- have had to meet. (rollover, steel door beams, head restraints etc.).
-
- With the increasing popularity of mini-vans and "sport utilities", there
- has been an increase in the number of former car drivers now driving trucks
- which, as mentioned, are not as safe (wrt. legal requirements) as cars.
-
- Therefore, consumers groups suddenly find themselves representing a large
- number of non-commercial truck owners who are concerned with safety.
