- I don't know if your assertion about deposition is correct.

- The SEM's I have seen of gold v.s. aluminum metal interconnect
- systems in IC's clearly show that gold has better step coverage.

- I doubt if the difference is of importance to the relatively imprecise
- systems imployed in CD players. I don't have the facts but I suspect that
- the feature size is huge compared to that of typical IC's. If I'm
- wrong on that assumption then there actually could be something to it.
