- Well I'm still hoping I don't get my money's worth from my EW. I have
- an 89 Toyota truck with 62,000 miles. (The warantee goes for 75,000
- with a $50 deductable.) In the last 5000 miles I've had to have the
- radiator and the front crankshaft seal replaced so they've covered
- about $250 so far. Of course if it wasn't for the EW I'd be going
- somewhere other than the dealer for these repairs.
-
- My brother's Toyota truck ended up needing a new front crankshaft seal
- (hmm, they seem to have a problem with those), a rear crankshaft seal,
- and a couple of other things, all under the EW. He basically got his
- money's worth from the EW but not a whole lot more.
-
- You basically buy the EW as insurance against a possible major repair
- bill at an inopportune time (is there an opportune time?).
- Actuarially it's certainly not going to be a bargain. I do know
- a number of people who end up having to have major repairs on every
- car they own; I don't know if it is a result of bad karma or what,
- but if I was one of those people I'd probably buy another EW.
-
- As it is, I probably won't get the EW next time and I NEVER get them on home
- electronics. When my VCR breaks I figure I'll be ready for a new one with
- all the latest doodads anyway.
-
- .......
-
- And by the way, for those people that still think the Japaneese make
- better cars, my last vehicle was a Pontiac Grand Am, and in 80,000 miles
- it never needed ANY repairs beyond normal maintanance and it didn't
- rattle all over and squeek like my Toyota does. I know, I know,
- annecdotal evidence...
