- It might be a good deal if they gave you 4 years for that price. The
- harder they try to $ell it to you, the more profit margin there must
- be in it. Remember, if the extended warranty costs a lot, maybe the
- thing breaks down so much you shouldn't buy it at all.

- Just as an exercise, ask for a complete list of parts in the car.
- Add in "parts" that aren't normally considered parts, like gasoline,
- battery acid, air in the tires, brake fluid, paint, grease on various
- parts, etc. Now add in every service procedure on their shop's price
- list. Now ask what's *NOT* covered. Try to get them to write the
- contract that way. Remember, phrases like "abuse" may include driving
- the car at the speed limit, or driving it through puddles, or leaving
- it out in the sun.

-
- Find out who's backing the warranty. If it's not the manufacturer of
- the car, (e.g. it's the dealer or some company that only does
- warranty service) and maybe even if it is, ask for financial statements
- and a credit report on the warranty company. Having the company go
- Chapter 11 before the warranty expires (or even starts) might be more
- likely than power door locks failing.
