- What contract? Can you say FRAUD?

- Most police officers have a VERY limited sense of humor when
- faced with wise-guys bothering them with very trivial problems.
-
- The gas station COULD have you busted for theft if you can't
- pay. However, if it is a genuine emergency and not just
- someone being a wise-guy, the station can offer to take your
- large bill and mail you or otherwise provide you with your
- change.
-
- The fact that you didn't offer to make this arrangement IN
- ADVANCE of pumping the gas is gonna make the nice officer a bit
- suspicious as to whether you are really in trouble or are just
- a wise-guy trying to scam a poor merchant out of the gas
- without paying for it.
-
- And if you go ahead and pump the gas, knowing that you may have
- problems with payment, you could be accused of fraud....

- Gas stations deal with all sorts of scam artists. They usually
- don't treat them nearly as nice as they would someone in genuine
- need, Neither do the local constabulary. If that is really the
- only bill you have, the officer might even offer to see if his
- fellow officers can change it for you.....but the odds of your
- getting away with a free tank of gas are slim and none.
