-
- AmEx is worth it if you do a lot of traveling. Period. Hotel reservations
- guaranteed by AmEx are truly guaranteed unlike Visa/MC where they
- are technically not a guarantee. The odds of a Visa/MC guarantee NOT
- being honored is very low BUT if you do a lot of traveling, you will
- encounter such a situation if you use only Visa/MC. AmEx is also much
- more aggressive in getting hotels, airlines, etc. to provide extra
- ammenities like express checkout. You can get many of the same extras
- with SOME Visa/MC cards but AmEx always seems to be ahead in quality
- and quantity. For example, AmEx started the extended warranty program.
- Visa/MC cards who offer the same thing did so only after AmEx proved
- the value of such a program.
-
- The AmEx card is more expensive to have but it also provides more
- services. If you need to use those extra services, it is well worth
- the extra money. Otherwise stick with your Visa/MC.
