  26. SYRIA: AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL VISITS SYRIA

  28. Two Amnesty International delegates are visiting Syria for about ten days in
  29. order to attend and observe proceedings at trials before the Supreme State
  30. Security Court in Damascus. Those standing trial are long-term political
  31. detainees many of whom are prisoners of conscience adopted by Amnesty
  32. International. During their visit the delegates are not authorized to make any
  33. public statements and on their return will submit a report to the Secretary
  34. General of Amnesty International.
