- the Beltway, would it? This section has become notorious, if not to
- the AAA, then to friends and friends of friends alike who swear that an
- inordinate number of "jumpers" cross busy Arlington Blvd. here whether
- or not they have the right of way. (This is not urban legend--these
- folks were part of the crash scenes.) I don't want to sound
- racist or elitist or whatever, but *all* of these reports involved
- newly-arrived foreigners who live in the neighborhood, and who
- apparently have brought in some creative driving skills from abroad (or
- are inventing variations here). My advice: use *extra* care when
- navigating this part of US 50, especially if you see vehicles waiting
- on the margins of the highway. The next sound you hear may be your
- fender caving in...
