- Hello -
- I have a question concerning xauth. I am running xdm on my local machine,
- and I wish to telnet to a remote machine and have it display on my local
- machine.
-
- So far, this is what I have tried:
- let LOCALMACHINE and REMOTEMACHINE be defined as obvious,
-
- logged onto LOCALMACHINE console, telnetted into REMOTEMACHINE.
- on REMOTEMACHINE, I issued setenv DISPLAY LOCALMACHINE:0.0
- (which is what I used to do before xdm, exactally)
- then, copied from the manual, I tried:
- xauth extract - $DISPLAY | rsh LOCALMACHINE xauth merge -
-
- Now, I am not sure exactally what this does, it it should work, etc...
- However, is there an easy solution here? I must state that I am not really
- intrested in security here, I am intrested in ease. I used to run xhost
- but now that I use xdm I am forced to use xauth.
-
- Any help would be greatly appreciated
- -Mark
