- Motif is (unfortunately :->) a commercial product of the Open Software
- Foundation (OSF). Hence there is not (nor is there ever likely to be) a
- free version available. You have a couple of options, though:
-
- 1) Buy the Motif source from OSF (not cheap)
- 2) If your OS vendor has a Motif development package, buy it
- (for example, I use Microport's SVR4, and use the supplied
- headers/libraries for Motif with the rest of XFree86).
- 3) Purchase a commercial Motif package (e.g. SGCS and MetroLink
- have SVR3 and SVR4 Motif packages).
-
- For free OS's (Linux & 386BSD), I don't know how you're going to get
- Motif, unless someone (or group) pays OSF for the license and provides
- the package under OSF's terms.
-
- This probably belongs in the FAQ list.
