  16. If you start a client without a geometry and don't "place" the
  17. window, you are logged out after about 10 minutes.

  21. X11R5p17 with xdm running on a Sun4 SunOS 4.1.2 managing displays
  22. for Xservers running on Sun3s, NCDs, or DecStation 5000/120s.
  23. With this configuration, if you are using twm and start an X client
  24. (ie. xterm) without specifying a geometry then don't actually place
  25. the outline, you are logged out after about 10 minutes.  The 
  26. following message then appears in the xdm errors file:

  28.     error (pid 11269): pseudoReset timeout

  30. The problem does not exist if you start the Xserver via startx.
  31. We have an application that process for some large amount of time
  32. and then brings up a window.  If the user isn't there to place the
  33. window, he/she is logged out.  I know there are ways to work around
  34. this (ie. have the application specify a geometry, using twm's
  35. RandomPlacement, ...) but I want to understand/fix the real problem.
