- No, you're not just dreaming. Our company, which markets vertical systems,
- has horrendous experiences with DEC's and modems. Part of my support job
- involves remote dial-up to customer's sites, making reliable connectivity
- critical.
-
- My boss had DEC engineers here to disprove it wasn't ULTRIX's fault. Eventual-
- ly they managed to get a DEC engineer to admit their getty is brain-damaged.

- No difference for Telebits either. The only guarantee from them was complete
- compatibility with DEC modems, not exactly what we want to hear.

-
- Sometimes you dial-in and get straight connections, other times you repeat the
- process endlessly, and DTR disappears mid-connection. Then getty locks up and
- you wait for indeterminable periods of time for it to clear up. Obviously,
- it's ULTRIX, because we use the exact hardware for Suns without a glitch.
- This situation is so out of hand, we no longer suggest customers purchase an
- ULTRIX-based system.
