- Just to expand on this: the whole point of V.32bis modems is that they
- use dynamic data compression to make the effective baud rate 14,400
- when they're really talking at 9600. To take advantage of the compression
- feature, you need to feed the modem data at a faster rate than it
- transmits it so the compressin can happen. Thus, you set your "rate"
- at 38400 (or higher, if you can).
