  16. OK, I just talked to WordPerfect again.  They just started shipping WordPerfect
  17. for Unix, Version 5.1  *Last Night*.  Don't know about anyone else, but our
  18. purchase order should be on their desk tomorrow!! (We're upgrading from WP4.2)

  20. FYI:  WordPerfect 5.1 is a complex and powerful word processing program which
  21. originally became popular under MS-DEAD.  It has been ported to a number of
  22. operating systems.  The Unix version seems to be slated tword the SCO platform,
  23. but I think it will work under most flavors.  The new version not only
  24. supports text terminals (like 4.2) but also runs with full GUI/WYSIWYG
  25. under X Windows (console, X-terminals, etc).

  27. WordPerfect has VERY good upgrade pricing and policies to take care of their
  28. customers.  Out total upgrade for a 20 user floating licence from 4.2 will
  29. be around $1384 COMPLETE.  I have also heard that if you have any MS-DEAD
  30. version lying around, this can be upgraded the the a Unix version for not
  31. much $$$.  (Although, WP for Unix CAN be expensive for a first-time buyer :< )

  33. We are in the process of a hardware upgrade to an Altos 15000, so it won't
  34. be loaded immediately.  But if there is interest, send me E-Mail and I will
  35. give you an overview of our experience with the new software.  If there is
  36. enough interest, I will post it to the net.
