  24. Yes, there is that too.  BFWIW, the 1400 dollar number may be $1000 high,
  25. depending on what ``competitive upgrade'' you avail yourself of.  Is it worth
  26. waiting 8 or more months to save $400?  And what if the system that is
  27. ``tiding you over'' is not ``reasonably-well-working'' in some way?

  29. Or the $1400 dollar number might be $2000 or $3000 if you decided to chuck
  30. ISC and go with some other vendor without any ``competitive upgrade''...

  34.   a) Since we have it on ``good authority'' that ISC SVR4 was ``pre-release''
  35.      software (even though that is news to many of us), and
  36.  
  37.   b) Presumably the existing Betas of Solaris are in no worse shape than the
  38.      ``pre-release'' ISC SVR4,
  39.  
  40.   c) Why not *give* us ISC SVR4 folks the beta kit now, and charge us the
  41.      $200 for the real kit when it comes out next year?

  43. That way, if we like it you get new, satisfied customers, and if we don't
  44. we can pitch it now instead of waiting till god-knows-when to find out...
  45.  
  46. That might shut some of us up...   ;-)  (assuming point b holds)... ;-)
