- | Is ~$1400 worth saving??? Especially when you have a reasonably-well-working
- | Unix system to "tide you over"?
-
- Yes, there is that too. BFWIW, the 1400 dollar number may be $1000 high,
- depending on what ``competitive upgrade'' you avail yourself of. Is it worth
- waiting 8 or more months to save $400? And what if the system that is
- ``tiding you over'' is not ``reasonably-well-working'' in some way?
-
- Or the $1400 dollar number might be $2000 or $3000 if you decided to chuck
- ISC and go with some other vendor without any ``competitive upgrade''...
-
- HEY SUNSOFT:
-
- a) Since we have it on ``good authority'' that ISC SVR4 was ``pre-release''
- software (even though that is news to many of us), and
-
- b) Presumably the existing Betas of Solaris are in no worse shape than the
- ``pre-release'' ISC SVR4,
-
- c) Why not *give* us ISC SVR4 folks the beta kit now, and charge us the
- $200 for the real kit when it comes out next year?
-
- That way, if we like it you get new, satisfied customers, and if we don't
- we can pitch it now instead of waiting till god-knows-when to find out...
-
- That might shut some of us up... ;-) (assuming point b holds)... ;-)
