- Actually they are both right.

- If by "primary" SCSI controller you mean "bootable", then the 1542 will
- allow you to boot from the first of its disks, _if_ there are no other
- disk controllers. So, it's true that one _can_ use the 1542 as the boot
- controller (if there are no other disk controllers); it's also true that
- one _cannot_ use the 1542 as the boot controller (if there are other
- disk controllers).

- Yes, if you have no other disk controllers. If you have any other disk
- controllers, you can only install ISC on the disks attached to it, even
- if, once installed, it can use the disks attached to the 1542 for non
- bootable file systems.

- (incidentally, the 1542 is not a SCSI controller, it's a SCSI host
- adapter; in SCSI terminology the controllers are those that interface a
- peripheral, not the machine, to the SCSI bus).
