- Hi --
-
- I just got a new serial i/o card to replace an old AST clone that had
- soldered in 16450's. FAS 2.07 [yes, I know its old] worked like a champ
- with the old card.
-
- The new card is an STB DSP 550 with "two high performance 82c550/16550
- Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter serial ports and one bi-
- directional capable parallel port for PC compatible systems."
-
- Actually it doesn't have any 16550 UARTs -- it has some smaller chip
- that evidently handles both serial and the parallel port.
-
- They claim that it is "compatible with 82c550 and 16550 UARTs",
- supports baud rates of up to 112K, has "on board status registers to provide
- error conditions type and status of the transfer operations being performed",
- has "complete MODEM handshaking capability", and FIFO mode capability
- with 16 byte buffer ..."
-
- But I can't get it to work. I suspect that I have the space.c file
- set up wrong [for my Microport System V/386 R3.0 system].
-
- If anyone has an example of a space.c file [possibly named differently
- for other UNIX versions, but similar in content] for using FAS with this
- IO card, I would really appreciate it if you could send me a copy or else
- otherwise point me in the right direction.
-
- Thanks
-
