  33. There are some screwball block size issues with DAT (and 8mm) tape drives.

  35. DELL may not have taken the time to sort out every possibility.  They are
  36. known to work with the HP units, as HP isn't quite that screwey.

  38. This can PROBABLY be fixed with a firmware update in the WangDAT -- call up
  39. Wangtek and bitch.  I'm willing to bet the problem lies here.

  41. The other possibility is that the tape drive has trouble dealing with sync
  42. mode.  If so, and he has sync negotiation enabled on his controller, remove
  43. the jumper and the problem  will disappear.
