  20. If you're talking about a plain-vanilla installation, then sure, but I could
  21. say the same thing about Destiny UN*X (though you're dealing with more media).
  22. On the other hand, do something just a little different and you may encounter
  23. a different story.

  25. With more than nine years of experience with UN*X and PCs, and several years
  26. of experience with different flavors of Windows, I had trouble getting it to
  27. function on our new AST Premium 486/33 with Adaptec 1540B. Turning in despera-
  28. tion to Microsoft, it still took more than 30 minutes to identify the problem.
  29. Seems the SCSI card was failing to follow instructions to "double-buffer",
  30. and we had to add an undocumented "+", which basically means "And we really
  31. mean it!". USL's SVr4.2, by the way, loaded without a hitch.

  35. Given USL licensing fees, and the current business models driving the UNIX
  36. vendors, getting to this range is quite unlikely, but if they don't come
  37. close to it, Microsoft is going to clean their clock. Like "Poor George" Bush
  38. before the recent election, neither USL nor UniVel yet Get It.
