  27. Amongst the pieces of UnixWare not included with Consensys are:

  29. - Full support for NetWare protocols. This is not a standard part of 4.2,
  30.   but is an integral bundled part of all editions of Univel.
  31.  
  32. - DOS-under-UNIX. Apparently Locus Merge has been substantially
  33.   re-written, in order to allow DOS-Windows software to share space in the
  34.   Destiny desktop. A text-based Merge is bundled with all Univel base
  35.   products, and the Windows enhancement is a (not yet released) option.

  37. - Third-party hardware support. As in the past, Consensys officially
  38.   supports the hardware supported in the USL base code, as well as its own
  39.   peripherals. There are a number of peripherals supported by UnixWare
  40.   but not Consensys, including MicroChannel peripherals and NE2000
  41.   compatible network cards. (I imagine, though, that most third party
  42.   drivers written for UnixWare will work on Consensys).

  44. Whether the above "features" are important depends, of course, on the
  45. need. Someone who doesn't need NetWare or Merge may be hard pressed to
  46. justify the the substantial difference in price between the two.

  48. Then there are other, less-tangible factors. Univel looks to be ramping
  49. up a fairly decent technical support department.
