- Well, I did this time.
-
- I was trying to change the root's shell by going to the /etc/passwd file.
- I saw the "sh" and put in "ksh" but DID NOT check for the path.
-
- The passwd file now has the entry /sbin/ksh BUT there is no ksh at /sbin.
-
- I can't su to root because the message "no shell" comes up everytime.
- I can't copy a ksh to /sbin because I have no rights to do it.
-
- man pages for su said that if there is no entry for shell the default is
- /usr/bin/sh, but I have an invalid entry.
-
- Please, o please. What can I do for this situation?
-
- A careless /etc/passwd editor.
-
- Thanks. E-mail if you can, so I don't have check NEWS all the time.
