  12. I've finally gotten around to setting up a named for the first time.
  13. It's plenty fun; almost as arcane as uucp...
  14.  
  15. I get it up and running OK, and access it using nslookup just fine,
  16. except that I have to specify fully-qualified names
  17. (machine.subdomain.toplevel) in order to get a match.  Setting debug
  18. ON, I find that

  22. generates a lookup for machine.toplevel, rather than
  23. machine.subdomain.toplevel.

  25. I'm really at a loss as to why my named thinks its the root server for
  26. the "com" domain, instead of "ourcompany.com".  Anyone got any advice
  27. for the standard things I should check?

  29. I'm running SunOS 4.1.1 on a SparcII.  I've got a nice hefty
  30. /var/named/named.run to look at (I started named with a debug level of
  31. 5), so if you've got pointers into there, that would help.
