  29. I beleive the reason for this is the pager set for your mail reader.  The
  30. animated messages you are talking about (I beleive) are vt100 escape codes
  31. which when 'cat'ed do 'run' the animation.  Actually every year I send a 
  32. merry christmas animation to all those at UofT Computer Services here. (Its
  33. my yearly Christmas Card :) )  But if the have their PAGER var set (like less)
  34. then there is a chance that the pager will not interpret the vt100 sequences.
  35. For example,  I have less set as my PAGER var,  and I can not read animated
  36. mail.  What I do is give them instructions at the top of the message on how
  37. to view the mail.   (you know:  Save the mail to a file.  Chop off evrything
  38. until CUT HERE,  then cat the file)
