- I intend to use vi for some text editing which will have to be
- done in German. The problem is that I can't get vi to recognize
- German umlauts (8 Bit chars). The shell recognizes them fine but
- when I type them in vi, it echoes the escape sequence back rather
- than the proper German umlaut.
-
- Is there a way to configure vi so that it will properly
- recognize 8 bit characters (ie. display the correct character
- rather than the escape code)?
-
- Any insights are appreciated
- Thanks
