- The main point about user friendliness is that the default installation
- of windows gets you going quite happily but the same cannot be said
- for the steroetype UNIX. However, if you want
- to optimize your system, you have
- to spend some time and take the risks - UNIX is the same.

- If you want to optimise windows with video drivers etc, it
- helps if you have access to someone who has done it before.
- Once you get the hang of it, it is quite easy. One of the nasty things
- about Windows is that if you stuff up a subtle default, the most time
- effective thing is to delete the files and start
- installing again. If you don't
- have access to the above person, try backing up the windows
- directory before you try something new. I always do this
- if someone wants me to tryout a new customized driver for windows.
