- Hello, I need a good archiving system for
- our cluster of HP-UX workstations. The system
- should on user demand store datasets that aren't needed
- on disk safely on cheaper storage. Storage could
- be tape or possibly optical disc. The server
- to have the system is manned by operators, so
- it is not absolutely necessary for it to work
- unmanned. A few other things we want from it is:
-
- - good user interface with menus. Easy to use
- for the casual user
- - good helptexts and documentation on line
- - index of stored data on line to be searched
- by ordinary users
- - at least as secure as the HP-UX we run in
- - possibility to store several versions of a
- file
- - A possibility to set limits on how much a
- user or group can store
- - a possibility to have statistics from it on
- usage per user etc
- - reliability - a physical error on a storage
- volume should not prevent us from having data
- back (twin storage or such)
-
- It would also be good if there is support for
- us here in Sweden on the products you suggest.
-
- Do you know of such systems? Please write to
- the group and tell us! I've found the system
- CenDar, that may be a candidate.
