  12. My machine, if it boots with a lock file in place (left over from a crash),
  13. esp. those on com01, will not use the com port.  This behaviour is correct.
  14. But when the lock file is removed, further attempts to open /dev/com01
  15. hang the entire system.  This is a repeatable failure.
  16. Hints?
