- Not to interrupt cross-cultural flaming or anything, but it is worth
- mentioning that the Plan 9 folks at AT&T have come up with a scheme
- for handling ISO-10646 in a way that reportedly works relatively well
- with a UNIX-like file system. Such capabilities would be a useful
- addition to 4 BSD and would go a long way towards addressing I18N
- issues.

- The other piece that is off the shelf and important is the "locale"
- work in ANSI C and in the IEEE POSIX standards.
