- I've had this problem since I first installed A/UX (several months ago) and
- have seen postings from several other people reporting the same problem.
- I've contacted Apple, and am waiting for a response (in fact, I need to
- call them again). Apple has indicated that they have at least reproduced
- the problem and that the documentation is not clear on how to configure
- SLIP when an EtherNet card is not installed.

- I was able to get MacTCP to work (without an ENET card) by changing
- /etc/startup.d/bnet and specifying my host name (found in the /etc/hosts
- file) instead of loopback. This, however, caused strange sendmail problems
- (sendmail would try to use the loopback address).
