  28. I've had this problem since I first installed A/UX (several months ago) and
  29. have seen postings from several other people reporting the same problem. 
  30. I've contacted Apple, and am waiting for a response (in fact, I need to
  31. call them again).  Apple has indicated that they have at least reproduced
  32. the problem and that the documentation is not clear on how to configure
  33. SLIP when an EtherNet card is not installed.

  37. I was able to get MacTCP to work (without an ENET card) by changing
  38. /etc/startup.d/bnet and specifying my host name (found in the /etc/hosts
  39. file) instead of loopback.  This, however, caused strange sendmail problems
  40. (sendmail would try to use the loopback address).

  42. For the time being, I've borrowed an EtherNet card...
