  12.  We are currently trying to decide to buy a Rs/6000-580, however a few
  13. concerns have come to mind, could some kind sole please comment on the
  14. following questions.

  16.  1) Is SCSI-2 supported on the 580, I have heard the the current version
  17.     of AIX does not or has some problems with this interface.
  18.  
  19.  2) I have been quoted aprox $560.00 per month for AIX phone support!
  20.     Is this correct? is there any cheaper support packages??

  22.  3) How much PD software runs on this thing, ie Cnews,trn,pcomm,emacs
  23.     etc. I use some much net software on my current Unix SysV.3 machine
  24.     that I hate to go to a platform which won't run any of the GREAT
  25.     software I'm acustomed to.

  27.  4) What software components are needed to run X on this thing, AIX windows
  28.     X-station manager?. Are there any X-Terminals which will work with the 
  29.     RS/6000 becides the IBM ones. Someone told me that I want X Stations 
  30.     which have the window manager in rom instead of having to download that
  31.     code when the X-station comes up. IS 2 meg on a X-station enough for good
  32.     X performance and how much load does all of this put on the 6000??
